This novel grew out of the story of the same name, which was very well received by readers. I hope that the version with new storylines woven in will also not leave the reader indifferent, and will bring pleasure to both those who are already familiar with the “brother” and those who are about to do so for the first time. So, “The Last Brother” is a book in the genre of historical fiction, or, as it is commonly called, alternative history. In the world described, by the 15th century the Seljuks had disappeared without having time to rise, eastern Rome was still proud and strong, and in the Mongol ulus the rule of the “golden family” of the Chingizids was interrupted. One of the main characters is the son of a Mongol khan, whom his father once sent to Constantinople. While the young man lived on a foreign land, his father died, and the throne was taken by one of the brothers, who killed the rest of his relatives in a bloody battle for power. The new khan now has only one brother left, who has a legal right to the throne; - grown up in a distant foreign land, incomprehensible and unfamiliar... The new khan sends loyal people for his brother in order to finally rid himself of any worries and doubts.
