Frédéric Lenoir is a French writer, philosopher, and researcher at the French Higher School of Social Sciences (EHESS). Lenoir studied philosophy at the University of Friborg in Switzerland, where he attended lectures by Emmanuel Levinas. Lenoir’s books (“Joy”, “Happiness. A Philosophical Handbook”, etc.) invariably top the lists of popular science bestsellers in Europe. In the book Joy, French philosopher and writer Frederic Lenoir asks the question “what is joy?” How to achieve the experience of joy and maintain it? What is the difference between joy, happiness and pleasure? In search of an answer to the questions posed, he turns to the texts of the greatest philosophers (Spinoza, Bergson, Nietzsche, etc.) and psychoanalytic theorists (Freud, Jung), as well as to various religious teachings and practices (Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism).
