The new work of the famous Australian writer Dando-Collins, author of many books on the history of Antiquity, is dedicated to the imperial legions of Rome. The author collected and systematized information about all the legions of Rome, starting from the moment of the creation of each of them, traced their military path, noting successes and defeats in battles. Dando-Collins studied in detail the selection conditions and methods of military training of legionnaires, described their weapons, equipment, military honors and awards, the wage system, features of discipline and punishment. Having analyzed the structure of the legions, strategy and tactics of warfare, the author paid special attention to the battles and conquests of the Roman Empire, and also presented portraits of great emperors and generals.
