Mid-XIV century. The most monstrous catastrophe in the history of the Middle Ages is approaching France - the Black Death, the great plague epidemic. But another danger has appeared: mysterious and frightening events in the county of Artois, which the best investigator of the kingdom's Inquisition has been entrusted with studying. A nobleman named Jean de Parthenay unexpectedly joins the investigation, claiming that he was born in 1984 from Christmas.
