The world doesn't work the way you thought... or think. People, animals, yes, they all die. But, their personalities, character and abilities continue to live in their shadows, which are sent to the Hall of Wailing. The place where they await their rebirth. A place where all their wishes, prayers and tears will never be heard by anyone. Until the shadows are reborn, they are guarded by special guards, the Seltars. These are former shadows of people who during their lifetime became a legend, a hero, or, as many now think, a myth. In the universe, everything is interconnected, everything comes from somewhere and strives for something. Every action has a meaning. Even the simple movement of a butterfly's wings has a purpose. Which? No one knows about this except the very nature of life and death. But what happened in the Hall of Wailing threatened to disrupt the foundations of the world and the very essence of the universe. The shadows... fled.
