The history of Vladivostok begins in 1858 with the signing of the Aigun Treaty between Russia and the Daiqing State (China). The initiator of this agreement was the Governor-General of Eastern Siberia Nikolai Nikolaevich Muravyov-Amursky. As a result, Russia received coastal territory in the Far East. In 1859, N.N. Muravyov-Amursky, going around the shores of Peter the Great Bay on a ship, drew attention to a well-sheltered bay. The Governor-General proposed calling it the Golden Horn and ordered the establishment of a military post on the shores of the bay with the name Vladivostok. By the beginning of the 20th century, the tiny naval post turned into the largest port and naval base of Russia in the Far East. About the history of Vladivostok, its attractions , cultural monuments are told in the next book in the series.
