Balkan recklessness, well known to us from the films of Kusturica, an absolute mixture of genres and styles: drama and comedy, mysticism and detective, satire and lyricism, irony and philosophy, life and death - this is what Miodrag Kaitez’s novel “Exhibition” is, populated eccentric heroes. At first glance, his prose may seem too complex, and the “montage” of the plot somewhat pretentious. But as we delve deeper into the text, with each new page the picture sketched in motley strokes becomes more and more clear. And the fantastic confrontation between the residents of a nondescript three-story building and greedy officials who want to demolish it at any cost takes on a deep philosophical meaning.
