The Summer House with a Swimming Pool, a novel by the Dutchman Herman Koch, one of the ten most widely read writers in Europe, was nominated for the Reader's Prize in the Netherlands in 2011. Today it has already been translated into a dozen languages and is not inferior in popularity to the novel “The Dinner,” which brought the author world fame. Mark Schlosser is an experienced family doctor, his clients are entirely celebrities. One day, the popular and charming actor Ralph Meyer comes to see him, and soon Mark, along with his beautiful wife and two teenage daughters, receive an invitation to spend a vacation visiting the Meiers, in a summer house in France. The relationship between the two families, initially cloudless, gradually sprouts dark passions, and the carefree vacation ends in drama. Now Dr. Schlosser faces a cruel choice between his duty as a doctor and his duty to his own family.
