Stephen Spender (1909–1995) is one of the most famous English writers, the author of many critical articles, poems and memoirs. Written in 1929, the novel "Temple" was considered lost for more than half a century, and was only accidentally discovered in the archives of a Texas university library. The very first publication made the book famous. This is a frank story about the adventures of a twenty-year-old poet during a vacation in Hamburg and a trip along the Rhine. Before us is the world of sunny young men, their friendship, parties, sexuality and especially the cult of a tanned naked body and natural hedonism, which disappeared with the advent of Nazism.
