First half of the fourteenth century. The Turks are pressing on the decrepit Byzantine Empire, seizing entire provinces from it. The pampered inhabitants of the empire, mired in carnal pleasures, like today's Western Europeans, do not want to die for their native land, and hire adventurers from different countries for this. One of the mercenary detachments will go down in history as the Catalan Company. At first they will serve the Byzantines gloriously, and then, vilely deceived by their employers, they will take cruel revenge on them and change the balance of power on the Balkan Peninsula.
