From some point on, the famous journalist Kira Golota begins to be haunted by terrible, phantasmagoric events for which she cannot find an explanation. In their city, in a cinema next to Kira’s house, a film with the strange name “Number Forty-Third...” According to eyewitnesses, the heroine of this film allegedly leaves the screen and kills real people - spectators who ended up in the cinema. The editor-in-chief of the newspaper where Kira works invites her to conduct a journalistic investigation into these incidents. Kira gets down to business.
