Beltane is a sacred and terrible night, when once a year the gates between the world of the living and the world of the dead open, when the present is intertwined with memory and fiction, and spirits gain flesh and power over the living. The ancient Celts, who once inhabited Provence, believed in this, and their descendants did not forget about it. Ned Marriner, the son of a famous photographer from Canada, who arrived with his father and his group to film in France on the eve of Beltane, turns out to be not only an observer, but also a direct participant in events whose reality is impossible to believe. However, they happen, and the intervention of a new character in them once and for all changes the established plot, and with it the fates of three great people and two thousand years of history.
