The German writer Alfred Andersch (1914–1980) is recognized as a world-class artist. The main themes of his works are man in the grip of totalitarian regimes, aversion to violence in any of its forms, the search for individual freedom on the line between life and death, between “God” and “Nothing.” At the same time, Anders writes fascinating, not without a detective and adventure element, clear and elegant prose. The collection includes the novels “Zanzibar, or the Final Reason”, “Redhead”, as well as the documentary narrative “Cherry of Freedom”.
