Memoirs of Professor David Davidovich Grimm (1864–1941) “From the life of the State Council 1907–1911.” were not known to researchers for a long time. Valuable records were discovered only in the late 1990s. when analyzing manuscripts in the National Archives of Estonia in Tartu. The memoirs were written in 1929–1930. in Estonia. They cover a wide range of topics related to the history of the highest state authorities of the Russian Empire, parliamentarism, and the struggle for academic freedom. They draw portraits of outstanding political and public figures (S.Yu. Witte, V.N. Kokovtsov, A.F. Koni, P.A. Stolypin, V.I. Vernadsky, M.M. Kovalevsky, etc.), reveal features of the worldview of the imperial elites against the backdrop of turning points in history (revolution of 1905–1907... World War I, revolutionary events of 1917). The publication is intended for specialists and all those interested in the history of the Russian Empire at the beginning of the 20th century.
