The collection offered to the Soviet reader includes the novels “Thirst”, “Impatient”, “Love and Fantasy”, written by the largest Algerian prose writer Assia Djebar, one of the first women writers in North Africa, the author of prose, drama and journalistic works. Novels The Djebar assas are united by one theme—the position of women in Muslim society—which for most Arab writers has traditionally been considered “closed.”
