The novel “Decree on People's Love” is a story somewhat reminiscent of the legend about a distant Siberian town, which is overcome by the madness of absolute sacrifice or unconditional love for love.
Siberia. 1919 On the outskirts of the empire, fragmented by the Civil War, a motley society has settled: representatives of a small sect, surviving soldiers of the Czech Legion, who found themselves on the side of the White Guards who lost the last battle and are desperately rushing home, an escaped convict and a young widow of a cavalry guard who is interested in him. A seemingly ordinary event - the death of a Tunguska shaman - plunges the town into a whirlpool of madness, be it absolute sacrifice or unconditional love for Love.
The dramatic atmosphere of the book and the stunning reconstruction of an unusual period in Russian history... make us remember such writers like Mine Reid and Pasternak.
