Michelangelo Buonarroti is one of the greatest men of the Renaissance. This is what a contemporary wrote about his birth: “And the All-Good Lord of heaven mercifully turned his gaze to the earth and saw people vainly imitating the greatness of nature, and their conceit was even further from the truth than darkness from the light. And he deigned to save from such errors , to send to earth a genius capable of absolutely all the arts.” But Michelangelo was destined to be born in a cruel age. And it is unknown why he was in great pain.
