Modern Berlin prose writer Igor Heinrich Schestkow began writing prose in Russian in 2003 after he stopped drawing and exhibiting and moved from the Saxon Chemnitz to Berlin. The book “Show Me the Way to Hell” consists of stories not included in Shestkov’s first “Kiev” book, the phantasmagoric dystopia “Invasion” and two Gothic stories - “The Man in the Bowler Hat” and “Show Me the Way to Hell.” Despite the obvious pessimism of the emigrant writer, which gives his prose a dark flavor, or maybe be and thanks to him, his “scary and psychedelic” texts are interesting, exciting, unpredictable. The author sends his heroes, and with them the readers, to worlds in which everything is possible, to worlds that pretend to be posthumous, parallel or post-apocalyptic, but in fact have long become our everyday reality.
