The main themes of the third volume of Immanuel Wallerstein’s major work “The World-System of Modernity” are criticism of the concepts of “industrial revolution” and “bourgeois revolution”, a new interpretation of the Great French Revolution in the context of the Anglo-French struggle for world hegemony, inclusion in the capitalist world- the system of new territories (including Russia) and the resettlement decolonization of the American continent. The first edition of the book was published in 1989; the Russian translation includes a preface to the 2011 reissue.
