Lev Aleksandrovich Yakubov is a young Moscow surgeon who works honestly and diligently for the benefit of medicine. Having recovered from the shocks of the war, by the age of thirty he managed to earn the respect of his colleagues and the trust of his patients, get back on his feet and find his cherished peace. However, fate tests his strength over and over again. Georgy Guskov, an old comrade, driven by family difficulties, consciously decides to take a terrible step. And the announcement at the beginning of 1953 of the “doctors’ case” and Jewish origin completely jeopardized the safety of Yakubov himself. Will he be able not to lose his humanity and how will his meeting with young Vera and the mysterious Alexander Kovalenko affect this?
