Stories about the sea and sailors by the remarkable Russian writer of the late 19th century, Konstantin Mikhailovich Stanyukovich, are loved by readers. He also penned many “non-marine” works, distinguished by a high civic sense. In the novel “Two Brothers,” the writer poses the problem of “fathers and sons” in his own way, condemning with pain and anger the careerism, acquisitiveness, and cold life cynicism of those representatives of the younger generation, for whose thirst for personal success has overshadowed the progressive goals that their fathers served. The book also includes one of Stanyukovich’s first works about the sea.
