Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy (1828–1910) is a world-class writer. He paid special attention to children's literature and the education of peasant children. At the Yasnaya Polyana estate, the writer taught, communicated and observed the lives of the children. His “ABC”, “New ABC” and “Russian Books for Reading” filled a huge gap in public education. The book “Fairy Tales, Fables, There Were Stories” included the very works that were published in the “New ABC” and “Russian Books” for reading". Fairy tales “Three Bears”, “Lipunyushka”, “Two Brothers” a cycle of stories about the dog Bulka, “Filipok”, “Jump”.
