“She doesn’t dance, but flies through the air” - this is what the St. Petersburg newspaper “Slovo” wrote about the greatest ballerina of the last century, Anna Pavlova, a hundred years ago. She glorified Russian ballet throughout the world, becoming a legend during her lifetime. Each performance of the ballerina, each of her dances awakened in the souls of the audience a whole world of thoughts and emotions - both joyful and sad, but always poetic and sublime. In 1931, the great ballerina left this world, leaving behind only a trail of thousands of secrets, gossip and omissions. What made her go on endless tours? Going on stage sick, on the verge of fainting? Anna Pavlova's husband, her impresario, Baron Viktor Emilievich Dandre, spoke about all this. After the death of his wife, the baron lived only in the memory of her. He created a club of Pavlova fans. Photographs, rare films, costumes from performances - everything was carefully collected and preserved.
