The book brought to your attention is a further development of the widely known “Treatise on Love, as a Creepy Bore Understands It.” Revisions and additions largely take into account communication with readers of previous editions of this Treatise, and partially include other articles written by the author since the publication of its second and third editions. The book has been significantly expanded, mainly due to issues that go beyond gender-specific topics; These questions are mainly relegated to the second part, entitled “The Arrogant Mammal.” Improvements in the fourth edition concern mainly issues related to the concept of “altruism.” Nevertheless, the topic of the instinctive foundations of the mating behavior of people as a biological species remained core in the presentation. The first part begins with a succinct overview of the biological background; then the instinctive criteria for choosing a marriage partner in humans are highlighted; Practical advice is given. The second part of the book, “The Arrogant Mammal,” gives a broad overview of the instinctive motivations of human behavior; serious attention is paid to the fundamental concepts and ideas of ethology. An abridged version of the first edition of “Treatise on Love...” was first published in the journal “Chemistry and Life - XXI Century” N7 for 1997 in the article “About Lieutenant Rzhevsky and Cornet Obolensky - without any embellishment.” The full version of the second edition of the Treatise was published in 2002 by the KSP+ publishing house under the original title.
