The adventures of the adventurer, freemason Count Alexander Cagliostro, presented in this book, are not yet known to the modern reader. It includes two novels. One of them, “Immortal,” was created in the last century by the French poet, founder of the literary group “Parnassus” - Catullus Mendes. The author of the second novel “Count Phoenix” is a journalist and writer Nikolai Aleksandrovich Engelhardt, who collaborated in the magazines “Bulletin of Foreign Literature”, “New Time”, “Historical Bulletin” and other publications.
In the book, the life of Cagliostro, surrounded by mystery, acquires more realistic outlines and filled in an important gap in his biography - the adventures and fiasco of the “magician” in Russia, which he kept silent about for obvious reasons. Along with this, the inquisitive reader will become acquainted with secret societies at the time of their dawn and will find much in common with followers of the occult today.
