“Planet of Knowledge” is a new educational and methodological set for primary schools. Its main feature is the unity of the structure of textbooks, the through lines of standard assignments, and approaches to organizing classroom and extracurricular activities. In the first grade, the child is introduced to the world of fiction through play, which is a prerequisite for artistic creativity. It is known that children have a more developed perception of color, sound, and rhythm than adults. Observations by psychologists and teachers show that free reading skills are easier for students to develop when mastering poetry. A short line concentrates the child’s attention, the rhythm creates a certain inertia of speech “movement”, “leads one along”. The musicality of poetic speech is consistent with children's increased sensitivity to sound and rhythm, and their emotionality. Therefore, in the course of literary reading in the first grade, a significant place is given to poetry.
