An important part of the creative heritage of Vera Fedorovna Panova are short “portrait” stories and stories about children of the war and post-war years. “Valya” and “Volodya” are about the fate of Leningrad children taken from the besieged city (based on them, according to the script by V.F. Panova, the film “Introduction” was created in 1960). The story “Volodya” was included in the author’s collection “Valya, Volodya” ", published by the publishing house "Children's Literature" in 1969.
