It reveals the theme of vagrancy, which in the 80s and 90s. last century was a common occurrence in Germany. In this story, Hermann Hesse gave a romantic image of a tramp. The story “Resortnik” (1925) is the fruit of the writer’s thoughts about his own life, about the forms and ways of overcoming the conflict between Spirit and nature, the individual and the collective. The novel “Steppenwolf” is one of Hesse's most popular works. It is to a certain extent autobiographical. This is the confession of a bourgeois intellectual trying to overcome his own illness.
