The heroes of the novels of the French writer Agnès Ledig are quite earthly people, only very different, and life is not always kind to them. The characters in her new book, Go Away with Him, are named Romeo and Juliet, but it doesn't seem like fate destined them for each other. She is a nurse in intensive care, her patients receive attention, tenderness, care - in a word, everything that the person with whom she lives under the same roof denies her. And Juliet is expecting a child, and this is more important to her than anything else. Romeo - works in the fire department, the unsung hero of the chronicle of incidents. A strong guy, but not strong enough to survive a fall from the eighth floor. A meeting in intensive care does not bode well for romance: bandages, injections, IVs. But from somewhere a timid melody breaks through: “What remains of love?..” asks the singer. If anything remains from such a fragile thing as life, then it is love, the author of the novel is sure.
