Truman Capote is one of the greatest American prose writers of the twentieth century, the author of widely acclaimed novels and short stories, a prominent journalist and essayist. The first volume of the writer's collected works includes his debut novel, Summer Cruise, written by a twenty-year-old Capote and thought lost for sixty years, and his early novel, Other Voices, Other Rooms (1948), a Southern Gothic story of childhood innocence in a corrupt, decaying world, as well as the stories “Voices of the Grass” (1951) and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (1958), a New York social comedy that became the literary basis for the film of the same name (1961) starring Audrey Hepburn.
