Maidan is not only a territory where people gather to solve certain problems, but also actions carried out by people on the territory of the Maidan and beyond its borders. Maidan is a general indicator of the state of society in a particular country. During the short recent history of Ukraine, there were two Maidans: in 2004, which ended with the appointment of an additional third period of presidential elections in Ukraine, and in 2013, which ended not only with the resignation of the government and the president’s escape from Ukraine, but also with the outbreak of the Civil War. In the novel, the author tried to trace the reasons that led to the Maidans and the chronology of events. The example of the Petrenko family from the village of Medvin shows the participation of the people in the Civil War, the fate of the brothers who, by coincidence, found themselves on opposite sides of the barricades.
