Frank Jodorow was an extraordinary thinker and writer, very influential in the 1950s in the United States. He wrote that the income tax, more than any other legislative change in American history, violates individual human rights - a fundamental principle of free society. He argued that income taxes differ from other forms of taxes because they deny the right of private ownership of profits and imply further state control over all other private goods.
