194:0.3 (2059.3) These men were prepared and trained to preach the gospel of the fatherhood of God and the sonship of man. However, in that moment of spiritual rapture and personal triumph, the best news, the greatest event that these people were able to think about was the fact of the risen Master. And so they pressed forward, empowered from above, and preaching the good news of salvation through Jesus to the people, but in doing so they made the unwitting mistake of substituting some extraneous facts for the essence of the gospel. Peter was the first to make this unintentional mistake; others repeated it - until Paul, who created a new religion on the basis of this new version of the good news.

194:0.4 (2059.4) The gospel of the kingdom is the fact of the fatherhood of God, together with the consequent truth of the sonship of fellow men. Christianity, as it has since been formed, is the fact of God as the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, together with the experience of the brotherhood of believers in the risen and glorified Christ.

194:0.5 (2059.5) It is not surprising that those who are filled with the spirit the people took this opportunity to express their joy at the victory over the forces that were trying to destroy their Master and put an end to the influence of his teachings. At such times it was easier for them to remember their personal connection with Jesus and to experience the delight of the assurance that the Master was alive, that their friendship was continuing, and that the spirit had actually come upon them as he had promised them.

194 :0.6 (2059.6) Suddenly these believers felt that they had been transported to another world - a new existence filled with joy, power and bliss. The Master told them that the kingdom would come in all its might, and some of them thought that they were beginning to understand what he meant.

194:0.7 (2059.7) Considering all this, it is not difficult to understand how it turned out so that these people began to preach a new gospel about Jesus instead of the previous preaching of the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man.
