George Henry Smith is a classic of Anglo-American fantasy. Smith constructs his works as some kind of pseudo-historical, pseudo-mythological reconstructions, making extensive use of European myths and legends. Smith is best known for the series “The World of Druids,” which included the novels “The Witch Queen of Lochlann,” “Care Caballa,” “The World of Druids,” and “The Second War of the Worlds.” The action in these works takes place in some parallel worlds, where characters from European epics, medieval legends, Scandinavian and Irish mythology live. This edition includes two novels from this series - "Care Kaballa" and "The Witch - Queen of Lochlann." The second novel is translated in full, without abbreviations from the original author's text, and is significantly different from all previous translations by other publishers.
Major Chuckworth from America at the end of the 19th century finds himself in the Avalonian Empire, which is very similar to early Victorian Britain, and how just in time - to, together with the highlander Dylan McBride and his beloved witch, save Avalon from the invasion of the nomadic Joggs (both with the help of magic and the Gatling machine gun that Chuckworth brought with him).
