The book is dedicated to historical writing in the Frankish kingdom under the Carolingians. It includes both previously published and new translations of prose and poetic texts. The publication presents works written in different genres and covering various directions in the development of historical thought among the Franks in the 8th–9th centuries. - biographies, histories, chronicles, annals, deeds, etc. They tell mainly about the history of the Carolingian state - the most important state-political entity in early medieval Europe. The publication is preceded by an extensive introduction. All works are accompanied by prefaces and reference materials. The book is intended for historians, philologists, religious scholars, cultural scholars, as well as for anyone interested in the history and culture of medieval Europe.
