This publication contains original texts and translations of archival documents related to the background, course and results of the Russian-Livonian war of 1480–1481. This armed conflict was the threshold of the confrontation between Russia and Livonia during the Russian-Livonian War of 1501–1503 and the Livonian War of 1558–1583, and therefore can be called the “first Livonian War.” The publication of documents from foreign archives is supplemented by an author's article and bibliographic indexes. It is intended for specialist historians, as well as for a wide range of readers interested in Russian history and the history of the states of the Baltic region.
