Born on June 25, 1935 in Odessa. He began mountaineering in 1952. In 1960 he became a master of sports of the USSR in mountaineering. Worked in mountaineering camps more than 80 shifts; of which 8 seasons - as the head of the training unit of the Alai mountain camp. Led 24 mountaineering expeditions (Altai, Pamir, Tien Shan, Andes, Africa). Trained 48 masters of sports of the USSR in mountaineering. Made 18 ascents of the 6th category of difficulty and 48 ascents of the 5th category of difficulty. Of these, 22 were first ascents and 28 were first ascents. During one of the Caucasian ascents I had to endure an unexpected encounter with insidious and unpredictable ball lightning.
