Philipp Scheidemann (1865–1939), a German politician, one of the leaders of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, described in his book the most difficult periods of the First World War, the crisis of the Kaiser's regime, as well as the events of the revolutionary days in November 1918. Scheidemann's Memoirs contain invaluable information about the last days of the German Empire, the establishment of the Weimar Republic and the political situation in Europe as a whole.
