The book presents the fiction and journalism of the St. Petersburg writer Boris Vakhtin (1930–1981). A scientist, translator, public figure, he did not live to see the publication of his books; small collections of prose and journalism were published only in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Nevertheless, Boris Vakhtin was a prominent figure in cultural and literary life in the 1960s and 1970s, one of the leaders of young Leningrad writers. Together with V. Maramzin, I. Efimov, V. Gubin, and later S. Dovlatov, he created the literary group “Citizens”. His story “Dublenka” was included in the famous almanac “MetrOpol” (1979). Based on the film script he co-wrote with Pyotr Fomenko, one of the most poignant films about the war was shot - the television film “For the Rest of My Life” (1975). Already in the 1990s, the story “One Absolutely Happy Village” formed the basis of the famous performance of the Pyotr Fomenko Workshop.
