The author of the book “The Life of Pushkin,” Ariadna Vladimirovna Tyrkova-Williams (1869–1962), spent more than forty years of her life away from Russia. It is not surprising, therefore, that her book, the first volume of which was published in Paris in 1929, and the second there almost twenty years later, turned out to be completely unknown in our country. Meanwhile, this is perhaps the most complete and detailed biography of the great poet. She is distinguished by a thorough knowledge of the material, an amazing Russian language (rather forgotten by modern literary scholars) and, most importantly, a great love for the hero, a love that the author conveys to us, his readers.
