Sam and Dean head to Key West, Florida, home of Hemingway, hurricanes and hordes of demons. There are so many horror stories in this tropical city that otherworldly excursions have long been one of the sources of income. However, a serious threat loomed over the excursions, as one of the guides was found dead as a result of a sudden heart attack... with his face frozen in a half-scream. No one knows what horrors he saw before his death, but the Winchester brothers are ready to find out. Soon they will come face to face with the ghosts of the island's most unfortunate inhabitants, with demons pursuing unclear goals, and with an ancient, mysterious force thirsting for revenge. Now it's up to Sam and Dean to save the people of Key West... before the beautiful island turns into nothing more than a pile of bones.

The events described in the book take place one week after episode 3.08 "A Very Supernatural Christmas" .
