The work of Alexander Vampilov (1937–1972) wrote a bright page in the history of not only Russian but also world drama. The plays he created “The Eldest Son”, “Duck Hunt”, “Last Summer in Chulimsk”, stories and essays without embellishment reflected the truth of life, penetrating the essence of human characters. Vampilov was always alien to hypocrisy and opportunism, which made his literary destiny difficult. On the eve of his 35th birthday, the writer’s life was tragically cut short in the waves of Lake Baikal, but for many years his fame has not waned both in his native Siberia and far beyond its borders. The author of his first full-fledged biography is the poet Andrei Rumyantsev, who knew Vampilov from his youth. Sign of information products 16 +
