"Point of Joy" is a story about a lonely woman, abandoned by her husband, who is waiting alone and giving birth to a baby. Before us are the last months of pregnancy, childbirth and the beginning of a new life. Anastasia, the main character, is a psychologist who works with old people in a prestigious boarding house. She strives to help them find a “point of joy” - “a special state of mind when you feel good, when you love everything in the world.” This finding of the joy of the present is possible for Anastasia herself only in serving other people, which determines her choice of profession and materializes in the newborn Kira. But most of those around him remain selfish, expecting only pleasure from the world, and therefore are unable to understand Anastasia. Some, like Nastya’s best friend, disguise selfishness under “Oblomovism,” others, like her ex-husband, under the guise of conforming to the trends of today.
