One thousand nine hundred and seventy-six. By decision of the FIDE Congress, Israel is hosting the World Chess Olympiad. At the same time, Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi is holding a super tournament in Libya, inviting the world's leading chess players and thereby beheading the teams participating in the Olympics.
