The large-scale uprising of Kolesnikov, which swept through the southern districts of the Voronezh province in 1920–1921, in terms of the number of participants and the coverage of the territory, is comparable to the comprehensively studied uprising of the Tambov peasants, or “Antonovschina.” The topic of “Kolesnikovism” is still little studied. The presented study is, in fact, the first attempt to comprehensively and most fully cover the history of one of the largest armed uprisings of the Russian peasantry in the Civil War.
