In 2009, I went to Syria to study Arabic. In 2013, a few months before I was supposed to receive my diploma, my classmate from Poland and I were arrested and put in prison. I don't know exactly why. We spent a month and a half in prison, after which our embassies intervened and we were deported. My cellmates asked me to tell them about what I saw. I am publishing this story, a diary from a Syrian prison, in memory of the prisoners who did not survive or went missing.
