Contemporary American writer Katie Marie (K.M.) Wayland, winner of prestigious literary awards, is no less popular as the author of textbooks on screenwriting and storytelling. She dedicated her book The Architecture of Plot to narrative structure, a central concept in the literary process. After all, a skillfully constructed structure does not suppress creative searches, but, on the contrary, facilitates the writer’s work and allows him to create convincing plots and three-dimensional characters. Like an architect designing a building, the author of a major literary form moves from the general concept to the details. Likewise, in a work of art there is a macro level consisting of ten steps that Weyland describes. Next, the author consistently dwells on the structure of the scene and sentence. The book is addressed to authors of both fiction and scripts for cinema and television, but will undoubtedly benefit all readers involved in working on a wide variety of texts.
