Batrov Alexander Mikhailovich (1906–1990). He worked as a mechanic, a loader in the port, and sailed on long-distance vessels for a long time. Participant of the Great Patriotic War. Awarded orders and medals. A. M. Batrov dedicated all his work to children. Many writers of the middle and younger generation grew up reading his books. But many times more number of his readers, cured by the romance of the sea, which literally permeates all the works of Alexander Batrov, became sailors.
