Romain Gary (Roman Kasev, Fosco Sinibaldi, Shaitan Bogat, Emil Azhar) is a unique personality in literature. He was the only one to receive the Prix Goncourt twice and thus made the whole world talk about himself. Russian readers became acquainted with his work in 1988, after reading Emile Azhar’s novel “The Whole Life Ahead.” Then, in the preface, the writer appeared as the son of a “Moscow actress”, who took him away from Russia in 1921. There were legends about Gary, which he himself offered to readers in his works, playing with facts like a fakir. This book for the first time reveals the truth about the life of the great hoaxer: here he is a writer, screenwriter, diplomat, pilot, member of the Resistance movement... and a passionate lover, about whom dreamed of many women. A biographical novel will satisfy the tastes of any reader: the variety of genres and twisted intrigue are often not inferior to the novels of the writer himself, and many facts will force you to take a fresh look at the well-known works of Gary-Azhar and re-read them again.
