Count A. A. Ignatiev - Major General of the Russian Imperial Army and Lieutenant General of the Red Army, served in military service for 50 years. Since 1908, he worked as an intelligence officer as a military agent (attaché) in Denmark, Sweden and Norway, where he established intelligence work, primarily against Germany and Austria-Hungary. In 1912–1917 - military agent in France; at the same time a representative of the Russian army at the French headquarters. He represented Russia at the first inter-allied conference of the Entente powers in Chantilly in July 1915, and participated as a member of the Russian delegation in a number of subsequent conferences in 1915–1916.
